In recent months I have been spending time looking at videos on YouTube and I have noticed a sickening trend. Intelligent, smart, liberal secular atheists are making videos about Islam and they are becoming a feeding frenzy for ignorant racist bigots, many of whom seem to be Sun reader Christian white van man types.
Seeing Islam as a threat to our secular and liberal values has absolutely nothing to do with racism, white superiority, the Crusades, Israel, resisting the Roman invasion or protecting Christian values. However if you look at the profiles of the people commenting on these videos that is the sort of stuff that they seem to be fascinated by.
Opposing the Islamization of Britain and Europe is a perfectly respectable because it is a backward step that would throw away hard won progress on human rights. Islam has the potential to be a far more sinister and oppressive force than Christianity ever managed to be, and Christianity cursed Europe for well over a millennium, stifling political and scientific progress and keeping the people of Europe in ignorance and mental chains. For centuries Christian Europe was almost devoid of real learning, philosophy and science. Christianity stifled creativity in the arts, science and philosophy. Only the technologies of war and church architecture showed any kind of advance at all. Europe forgot how to make concrete, make life-like sculpture, build great domes, how to think and how to wash. Islam has got that same potential to destroy progress and freedom but on an even bigger scale as Islam does not value freedom, it values obedience, duty, giving and receiving orders rather than respecting the freedom of the individual. To Islam the will of Allah is everything, the will of the individual is weak, unworthy, suspect and not to be valued.
Islam is a threat because it does not value what we value. Everything which I see as good in British society and culture is looked upon with suspicion or hostility by Islam. It is impossible for somebody to seek truth through science when they believe truth is already contained in a book dictated by an uneducated and illiterate man living in an unscientific age in a cultural and intellectual backwater. There can be no agreement with people who see lies as being more true than truth itself. There can be no satisfactory working arrangement between free people and those who think man's place is grovelling in the dust and woman's place is separate and inferior.
My clear objections to Islam have nothing to do with a dislike of foreigners and immigrants or brown people or a desire to remove such people whether on jumbo jets or in gas chambers. I wish I could say the same for many of those who watch the videos of Pat Condell, Victimless Criminal and others. But unfortunately that is not true. They are ignorant bigots who see attacking Islam as a way to “get at the towel-heads” and proclaim a culture they do nothing to advance as being superior.
